2010 : Turtles Are Free

Aquaria KLCC saving our turtles

This campaign kicked of on the 26th of July 2010 and revolves around the release of three Green Sea turtles were satellite-tagged to provide researchers with essential information.

Introduction

The three Green Sea turtles named Cruise, Duke and Mertle were satellite-tagged to provide researchers with essential information on their location, dive time and the actual routes they take to foraging areas after nesting.

Satellite tagging by no means harms the animal, as it only involves tagging the carapace (outer shell) of the turtle and is essentially a radio transmitter transmitting signals back to earth via satellites within interval timings.

Cruise was released back into the wild at Cherating Beach, Pahang while Duke & Mertle were released at Cagar Hutang Beach in Pulau Redang.
