Stonefish protect itself by a dorsal fin that modified into 13 sharp spines. When threatened, stonefish will erect these spines to protect themselves.

Stonefish is an ambush predator. It will wait patiently for the prey to appear and attack its predators and swallows it in whole in a blink of an eye.
